Anyone have a suggestion on how to stop the lateral slide in the downswing? I tend to do this with driver and 3 wood. Not a problem with irons at all. I suspect that having too long of a backswing is leading to this.

And then you miss with a block to the right or a weak slice? I was blocking all my scoring irons yesterday so I've been watching videos all morning trying to fix it.

Lateral as in moving toward the target?

Actually it typically just causes a low hook for me rather than the usual high draw. It can get a little low fadey with the driver if I am too quick from the top.

Put your golfbag in front of you next to your hip with the clubs facing behind you. If you shift towards the target you'll bump into your bag. Avoid bumping the bag boing

I do the slide towards the target to and noticed this happens a lot more when my stance is too wide. I've narrowed my stance and now had me turning more a sliding a bit less. I still slide a little but not to the point where I get the low hooks you mentioned.

I might try that with an alignment rod, Michael Breed style.
